Adrian Srb earned a bachelor's degree in English literature and a master's degree in agronomy from the University of Nebraska. He then earned a doctorate in biology in 1937 from Stanford University, where he taught until coming to Cornell in 1947 as an associate professor of plant breeding. He wrote numerous articles and papers on the genetics, physiology, and development of fungi, including the bread mold Neurospora and baker's yeast.
